The gate of the Jewish cemetery in Lublin looks like a wrought-iron menorah. I jumped it with some friends last year in the middle of the night looking for the gravesites of some of the 19th century’s greatest Chassidic masters. But apparently they’re down the street in the **other** Jewish cemetery. Oh well.

Dear Healthy Jew,

I’m a happy pessimist, which means I like finding and nurturing the little lights in our awfully dark world, which is basically what Chanukah is all about. So Chanukah is one of my favorite holidays.
